Quilting is my creative outlet. Choosing, prepping, cutting fabric, going through the construction process, and working with the fabric textures and colors brings me joy. My goal is to share my love of quilting in a way that will make you want to quilt and continue to improve your skills while learning new techniques.
Accuracy is my goal without being stuck on perfection. Striving for perfection, to me, takes the fun out of it. Stick with me, and together we will create beautiful quilts and enjoy the process.
If you are new to quilting or have been around a block or two (pun intended, I know it is a bad joke), we can explore the world of quilting together. We will explore various tips and tricks I have learned over the past 20+ years of quilting. (Wow, I just realized I am old.) While you do not always have to do it my way, I will let you know the reasons why you might want to.
Sewing has always been a part of my life. At one point, my job required me to wear jeans and a t-shirt. This did not give me much opportunity to sew clothing. Why spend time sewing something if it would get ruined at work. But my need to sew was great. I met a co-worker who got me started quilting,
which led me to my fabric addition,
which led me to purchase my A1 longarm,
which led me to join a quilt guild,
which led me to quilt for others,
where I met my friend Carol.
My friend Carol introduced me to hiking. And in turn, I got her on mountains she never thought she would hike. Together we completed the New Hampshire four thousand footers list. And because of her, I became The Quilting Hiker.
From time to time, you will hear about my hiking escapades. Hiking is my other release. Inspiration can be found in the woods, both in the surroundings and in the determination of completing a challenging hike. But mostly, we will be quilting.
So, join me, and we will explore quilting together.
