No, I haven’t been to Alaska.  I would like to go.  Especially after finishing my customer’s quilt.

While vacationing in Alaska, my customer stumbled upon a shop hop being run by the local quilt shops.  As part of the shop hop, each shop had a kit for a block to a quilt celebrating the 50th anniversary of Alaska’s statehood.  Each block consisted of a pieced block with an applique over the block.

I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to quilt this wonderful quilt.  The main block was to be in the center of the quilt, but my customer decided to make it into a throw pillow instead.   The quilting requested was simple.  In this instance, I thought too much quilting would have taken away from the quilt itself.  I will let the pictures of this quilt speak for themselves.
